Speaker: Meriel Martínez, Nonprofit Leadership Center of Tampa Bay

Diverse boards are crucial to nonprofit success, but nearly 1 in 3 nonprofits lack any professionals of color on their boards (BoardSource). Nonprofit CEOs, in turn, report ongoing challenges in understanding how to identify and recruit board members of color who are passionate about their organization’s mission. In an effort to address these challenges, the Nonprofit Leadership Center of Tampa Bay (NLC), with the support of community partners, developed the Advancing Racial Equity on Nonprofit Boards Fellowship. Program Director Meriel Martínez will describe how the initiative was designed and is executed, offering participants a roadmap for increasing leadership diversity in your organizations.
